New information about the lyrics of "Mooie Dag / Beautiful Day", sung by Heather and Bløf [14]. (January 1, 2008) Release of a "Waves Of Sound" compilation CD from the Swiss magazine 7Sky with Heather contributing the song "Higher Ground". New section added with noteworthy covers of Heather's songs [22]. Updated future plans. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ INTRODUCTION This document lists all songs by Bermudian singer Heather Nova and all released or promotional, studio or live versions of these songs, with background info to each song, if possible. Since most of Heather Nova's songs are distributed on her own records anyway, we list Heather Nova's own releases unless a song or a special version can only be found on a promo, or a compilation. Samplers with Heather's music are not listed, if the recording can be easily found on one of her own releases, too. For more detailed information about Heather Nova's records, please visit the Heather Nova Discography. The main sources for this song list are the discography, the closed Heather Nova Mailinglist, the official heathernova.com magazine (formerly Heather Nova Newsletter), the German Heathernova.de, the International Heather Nova Network, some very nice people and of course our CD collections. :-) Many, many thanks to Heather Nova and Felix Tod for their encouragement! Special thanks to Michael Weigand. COPYRIGHT The Heather Nova Song List may be used for any non-commercial purposes and may be freely distributed across the internet. Since this is a songlist, and not a full discography, we list only compilations which feature a recording that is not available on Heather's regular releases. This means that we leave out especially samplers and soundtracks with already well-known live or studio recordings by Heather, even if the compilations were very popular and sold a lot of copies. [ THESE WALLS EP / HEATHER FRITH EP ] 1990 - These Walls EP / Heather Frith EP 3:05 These Walls 3:06 New Love 3:39 Further Than You 4:39 Flying As She Falls Note: Heather's first and only release under her real name "Heather Frith", since her stage name "Heather Nova" wasn't created yet. Named "These Walls EP" by Big Cat Records, although the cover lists "Heather Frith EP". Only available on vinyl. Re-released on CD as The First Recording in 1997. Originally "Blow" was released in a 6-track version, without the songs Light Years, Frontier, and Doubled Up. [ OYSTER ] 1994 - Oyster 3:50 Walk This World 3:54 Heal 6:20 Island 5:56 Throwing Fire At The Sun 5:08 Maybe An Angel 5:34 Sugar 4:52 Truth And Bone 4:32 Blue Black 4:10 Walking Higher 4:48 Light Years 4:01 Verona 3:39 Doubled Up Note: Heather's first studio album "Oyster" was released in Europe (late 1994) soon followed by Australia (March 1995) without Sugar, since this song was not recorded in studio until then. Originally Heather saw "Sugar" just as a live track like "Blessed" as it was released on Blow, and Heather felt it had arrived at its "finished form", so there was no studio version of it. However these plans were changed in 1995, because Heather decided to put "Sugar" at least on the releases in USA/Canada (summer 1995) and Japan (fall 1995). Furthermore, the 1994 European and the 1995 Australian release of Oyster both contain a short "yes/no" track between "Verona" and "Doubled Up" that does not appear on the US or Japanese releases. This audio piece had been used at concerts since then. The track display of the European release lists this track as part of Doubled Up (intro, total song length 4:13) while the Australian release lists it as part of Verona (outro, total song length 4:33). A new European re-release of Oyster is on the market since 1998 replacing the 1994 Oyster, with Sugar, but without the "yes/no" track. Likely the live version of Walk This World was also recorded there. [ SIREN ] 1998 - Siren 3:52 London Rain (Nothing Heals Me Like You Do) 3:59 Blood Of Me 3:58 Heart And Shoulder 4:46 What A Feeling 4:20 Valley Of Sound 5:23 I'm The Girl 4:55 Winter Blue 3:40 I'm Alive 4:18 Widescreen 3:28 Paper Cup 4:07 Avalanche 4:56 Make You Mine 4:05 Ruby Red 5:04 Not Only Human Note: The song "London Rain (Nothing Heals Me Like You Do)" is named in France "Keep Me (London Rain)". A limited edition of Siren had been released in a digipak with two bonus tracks at the German record chain store "WOM". The bonus tracks at the end are "Water From Wine" and "London Rain (acoustic)". Between song 14 "Not Only Human" and song 15 "Water From Wine" is three minute silence (as an outro of Not Only Human, overall length 8:07). The Japanese Siren has at the end the three bonus tracks "Grow Young", "Water From Wine", and "London Rain (acoustic). Between song 14 "Not Only Human" and song 15 "Grow Young" is the same three minute silence (as an outro of Not Only Human, overall length 8:09). In April 1999, a special edition of Siren was released in Australia only as a CDx2 with a bonus CD, containing five "previously unreleased or rare tracks". These five songs are "Grow Young", "Water From Wine" and "London Rain (acoustic)" from the "London Rain" singles, and "Blind" and "Walk This World (acoustic mix)" from the European and Australian "Walk This World" single. This special edition of "Siren" promoted Heather's Australian promotional tour in late April/May 1999. "Paint The World", "Man In The Ocean", and "Days And Nights" are all "Siren outtakes". Additionally to all this, there is also an Unmastered Siren CD, where the lenghts of most tracks vary about some seconds compared to the original Siren release. This is due to different duration of pauses between the tracks and some tracks are faded out some seconds earlier or later. Several songs are mixed slightly different or even sometimes an instrument is still missing. "What A Feeling" is named on this CD with its "legal title" Fruit, not with What A Feeling. Also, there is a Test Pressing Siren CD from mastering. The CD sounds like before it is copied, therefore much better. The actual mixes on the CD are different to the final album in some cases, likely just the vocal levels. [ LONDON RAIN (NOTHING HEALS ME LIKE YOU DO) / KEEP ME (LONDON RAIN) ] It seems to be impossible to list ALL official "London Rain" CDs. It is a fact that "London Rain" had been distributed in different countries on one or two CDs. The tracks may vary. Additionally, the song "London Rain (Nothing Heals Me Like You Do)" is called "Keep Me (London Rain)" in France, and a "Keep Me (London Rain)" promo CD was already released there. Six songs of the "Mean Fiddler" gig were pressed on Blow (6-tracks): "Sugar", "Maybe An Angel", "Blessed", "Mothertongue", "Talking To Strangers" and "Shaking The Doll". Another three songs now (often promoted with a sticker as "3 extra tracks") from the "Powerhaus", with a slightly different band and the first appearance of Nadia on cello, can be found on Blow (9-tracks) additional to the "Mean Fiddler" songs: "Light Years", "Frontier" and "Doubled Up". [ Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessies, December 12, 1994 / February 11, 1995 ] Heather played two times for the program 2 Meter Sessies on Dutch television and radio station VARA. The recording of "Walk This World" on the 2 Meter Sessies, Volume 6 sampler was made on December 12, 1994 in a studio in the small village Nederhorst den Berg (south-east from Amsterdam). The setlist was Walk This World, Heal, Maybe An Angel, My Fidelity. It is with full band, but acoustic. A second acoustic recording was made at the same place on February 11, 1995 with My Fidelity, Walk This World, Maybe An Angel, Heal, Blessed, Doubled Up. At least Walk This World and Maybe An Angel were broadcasted later on Dutch TV. An accident happened there as the cables caught fire by some candles and Maybe An Angel had to be stopped and retried. [ Amsterdam concert, December 15, 1994 ] Heather did a gig in Amsterdam at the De Melkweg (= "Milky Way") club. The tracks from this gig are spread over several CDs. Here is an overview: Song CDs ------------------------------------------------------------ Heal Maybe An Angel, UK live EP Maybe An Angel Live From The Milky Way Maybe An Angel, Germany Maybe An Angel, UK live EP Bootleg Supernova [#2] My Fidelity Maybe An Angel, Germany Maybe An Angel, UK live EP Compilation Volume #14 Sugar Live From The Milky Way Walk This World, Japan Bootleg Supernova [#2] Talking To Strangers Live From The Milky Way Maybe An Angel, Australia Maybe An Angel, Germany Maybe An Angel, UK single Bootleg Supernova [#2] Throwing Fire At The Sun Live From The Milky Way Maybe An Angel, Germany Maybe An Angel, UK single Bootleg Supernova [#2] Truth And Bone Maybe An Angel, Germany Verona Live From The Milky Way Maybe An Angel, Germany Maybe An Angel, UK live EP Bootleg Supernova [#2] Walk This World Walk This World, Japan Walk This World, USA (Promo) Walking Higher Live From The Milky Way I added Walk This World to the list of Milky Way recordings just because I think that it had been recorded there. There is unfortunately no information about where it had been recorded on the CD. But it sounds equal to the other recordings and at the end the same audience noise with the two guitar strokes had been used that can also be found at the end of "My Fidelity" on the German Maybe An Angel single. The live versions on the Japanese 3-track Walk This World single and on the Walk This World US-promo single are identical. The running time is printed incorrect on the US promo single. The final words "I spent the day at the Milky Way" can be found after the last song on Live From The Milky Way (Verona) and also after the last song on the UK live EP of Maybe An Angel (My Fidelity). For more information about the video for Sugar see [9]. [ United Kingdom, BBC radio shows, 1995 ] There are three BBC Radio 1 Sessions, each with two songs: - Radio 1 Session # 1: "Maybe An Angel" and "Heal" - Radio 1 Session # 2: "Walk This World" and "Heal" - Radio 1 Session # 3: "Maybe An Angel" and "My Fidelity" Session # 1 is also known as the Johnnie Walker Show from February 4, 1995. These six songs can be found on the Supernova [# 2] bootleg. Heather, accompanied by her cellist Nadia Lanman, did an acoustic version of "Maybe An Angel" on the BBC local station Greater London Radio (=GLR) in 1995. You can hear it on the Volume # 13 Compilation and on the Supernova [# 2] bootleg. Note: Heather performed "Walk This World", "Heal" and "Maybe An Angel" on the Mark Radcliffe Show (May 29, 1995) on BBC Radio 1, and "Walk This World" and "Heart And Shoulder" acousticly on the Johnnie Walker Show (February 13, 1999) on BBC Radio 2. These shows are not available on CD. [ Japan tour, November 11, 1995 - November 23, 1995 ] Japan has been visited by Heather in November 1995 for playing concerts in several cities. These shows were recorded and some songs (except "Blue Black" every song is acoustic) appear now as B-sides on Heather's releases: Song Concert CDs ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Blue Black [7] Tokyo (Nov 11, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan Truth And Bone Doubled Up Sendai (Nov 22, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan Heal Fukuoka (Nov 15, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan I'm On Fire Nagoya (Nov 23, 1995) Truth And Bone Like A Hurricane Hiroshima (Nov 16, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan Truth And Bone Maybe An Angel [unknown] [only promotional] [1] Truth And Bone Sapporo (Nov 18, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan Walk This World [#1] Osaka (Nov 12, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan Walk This World [#2] [unknown] [only promotional] [1] Walking Higher Nagoya (Nov 23, 1995) Maybe An Angel, Japan As far as I know, the acoustic versions (just Heather and Nadia) of Maybe An Angel and of the "second" Walk This World can only be found on a rare Japanese "DJ-Promo" CD [1] and are declared there as "live" tracks - likely from the Japanese tour in November 1995. But there is no information about where and when they were recorded. Maybe An Angel is mixed with an extraordinary echo in the background, which cannot be heard on any other Japanese recordings. Although the "second" version of Walk This World sounds very similar to the "first" version that can be found on the official Japanese Maybe An Angel single, it is not the same recording. For example it is some seconds longer and Heather's guitar playing after the cello part sounds a bit different. Heather introduces the song "Like A Hurricane" (only on the Japanese Maybe An Angel) with the words: "This is one I didn't write, but one that I like a lot." [ Hamburg concert, March 2, 1996 ] On March 2, 1996, Heather did a promo gig at Hamburg's Knust club. Although it was a gig mainly for the press and only sixty tickets went to the offices, Heather made a wonderful acoustic concert, accompanied only by Nadia on her cello. The full concert was recorded and has already been broadcasted (except the encore "Walking Higher") on German radio station NDR2 on their special live program "Radiokonzert". All songs (except the last regular song "I'm On Fire", the second half of "Truth And Bone" and the encore) are on the German bootleg Supernova [# 1], which has even some additional live tracks from other concerts. "Truth And Bone" and "I'm On Fire" can be found on the Israeli bootleg Under A Blue Sky, also among with a lot of other tracks from various concerts. Only the first half of the song Truth And Bone appears on the bootleg Supernova [# 1]. This song was unfortunately faded out on the first radio broadcast (on June 22, 1996) of this gig because of missing time at the same moment... The live version of Heart And Shoulder had been performed for the first time on the Hamburg concert on March 2, 1996, two years before the album Siren saw the light of day. Not Only Human was the second new song that could have been performed at the same concert, because it was on the written setlist, but Heather played "Ear To The Ground" instead. "Heart And Shoulder" had been performed several times since then, but "Not Only Human" remained unheard until the release of Siren. For info about the All Of Me tune see [7]. The setlist had these songs on it: HEAL THROWING FIRE ISLAND HURRICANE WALK THIS WORLD * + SHOULDER (* indicates a drawn heart) FIDELITY DOUBLED UP MAYBE AN ANGEL -----//----- EAR 2 THE GROUND / NOT ONLY HUMAN ... According to a picture I saw, the setlist was written just like above with capital letters. [ London, MTV Europe's "Hanging Out", April 10, 1996 ] Heather performed with Nadia on this MTV Europe show an acoustic version of "Island". The bootleggers from Supernova [# 1] put it on their CD. [ Loreley open air concert, June 22, 1996 ] The open air concert on the Loreley (near St.Goarshausen, Rhine), Germany, was one of the summer festivals Heather attended in summer 1996. It was a very rainy day, but the rain suddenly stopped as Heather came on stage, so she wore at the beginning a transparent raincoat, but still remained barefoot... She also made some photography of the audience! Heather performed eight songs, but only five of them were pressed on CD, namely on the German bootleg CD Supernova [# 1]. Missing from the Loreley open air is the first song "Throwing Fire At The Sun" and the last two songs "Blue Black" and "Sugar", which Heather managed to merge into the one great final song of her festival gig. So unfortunately "Blue Black/Sugar" were the best part of the Loreley gig... This concert was organized by German television station WDR for their programme "Rockpalast", and it was broadcasted since now several times on German TV. It seems that the Rockpalast people (and the audience) liked Heather very much, so she came back at the Loreley festival on June 21, 1998 to promote her new album Siren. Her third Rockpalast appearance was on December 19, 1998 in Düsseldorf, Germany, at the "Van Morrison Christmas Special", and her forth appearance on March, 31, 2002 in Düsseldorf again at the "Easter Rock Night". [ Loreley open air concert, June 21, 1998 ] Promoting her album Siren, which was released only three weeks before this gig, Heather attended the WDR Rockpalast Loreley festival in Germany in summer 1998 again. Her first appearance there was 1996, another Rockpalast gigs were in Düsseldorf in December 1998 and March 2002. The whole concert with nine songs, among these five from Siren, and the remaining four songs from Oyster, are available on the bootleg Under A Blue Sky, most likely taken from the German NDR 2 radio broadcast. [ Belfort, Les Eurockéennes festival, July 3, 1998 ] Belfort was the last European gig before the four weeks US tour 1998. Les Eurockéennes is an annual festival in France, not far away from the borders to Switzerland and Germany. Heather's performance of "Make You Mine" can be heard on the French Les Eurockéennes de Belfort sampler among other artists. [ Lilith Fair Tour, July 7, 1998 - July 15, 1998 ] "Lilith Fair - A Celebration of Women in Music" is a North American summer tour exclusively for female artists founded by Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan. Heather participated the tour in July 1998 and from this "Island" was recorded and appears on the sampler Lilith Fair Vol. 2. It is unfortunately not mentioned of which concert "Island" was taken, but it is one of these gigs: Date City/State ------------------------------------------ July 7, 1998 Detroit, MI July 8, 1998 Detroit, MI July 10, 1998 Rochester, NY July 11, 1998 Hartford, CT July 12, 1998 Saratoga Springs, NY July 13, 1998 Holmdel, NJ July 15, 1998 New York, NY [ San Francisco, KFOG radio station, July 27, 1998 ] Heather played "London Rain", just with Nadia, on San Francisco's radio station KFOG as an acoustic version during her US tour in summer 1998. It can be found on the KFOG Sampler CD Live From the Archives 5. [ Boulder, Colorado, KBCO radio station, September 21, 1998 ] KBCO, an adult contemporary radio station in Boulder, Colorado, pressed another live version of the song "London Rain" on a limited edition CD called KBCO Studio C Volume 10. This CD is comprised of various live performances recorded in KBCO's "Studio C" and was "sold out in less than 30 hours"! In contrast to the London Rain recording from KFOG radio station two months before, Heather played at KBCO with full band. [ Cologne concert, November 4, 1998 ] During the famous German tour in fall 1998, the Cologne concert took place in a location called "E-Werk" on November 4, 1998. This gig was recorded and filmed, but it was unfortunately never broadcasted so far. The venue "had good sound", Heather described in an interview for Radio Brume. 14 songs are on the Wonderlust live album. "Widescreen" is only on the German Gloomy Sunday single, and "Make You Mine" is on both discs. [ Düsseldorf, Van Morrison Christmas Special concert, December 19, 1998 ] The German television station WDR organized a festival with Van Morrison for their Rockpalast series. A lot of other artists were invited to celebrate a Christmas Special with him, among these Heather. It is well-known that Heather named Van Morrison as one of the most important musical influences in her youth, while shipping in the Caribbean. She lists for example Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" album from 1968 (the year Heather was born) as one of the albums that "shaped her life", and the Düsseldorf gig was Heather's first meeting with Van Morrison ever. It was also her last concert in 1998 and the conclusion of her German tour, and her third Rockpalast appearance (see also Loreley 1996 and Loreley 1998, also an appearance in Düsseldorf again 2002). Heather played twelve songs, and four of them (Maybe An Angel, Walk This World, Blood Of Me and the thrilling Not Only Human) found the way on the Israeli bootleg Under A Blue Sky. [ Paris, Radio France, January 25, 1999 ] On the evening before the UK tour in winter 1999, Heather stopped in Paris at Radio France to record an acoustic version (just Heather and Nadia) of London Rain. It was released in France on a sampler with the French magazine Best, Issue 1, 1999 as "Keep Me", since the name "London Rain" is not common there. [ Netherlands, Live at Vrienden Van Amstel, December 4, 2001 ] Heather did a collaboration with Dutch band "Bløf" on the Dutch television show "Vrienden van Amstel life" (RTL4) on December 4, 2001. It was aired on January 19, 2002. "Mooie Dag" was released on the Bløf's single "Mooie Dag # 3". [ London concert, September 12, 2003 ] Heather did a concert in London's Union Chapel on September 12th, 2003. The whole gig was recorded and parts of it are released on the Live At The Union Chapel DVD. "I Wanna Be Your Light" was also released on the Together As One CD. [ Bermuda concert, May 14, 2005 ] Heather sung two songs abroad the ship "Amistad" in Hamilton, Bermuda: "Together As One" and "Redemption Song". The song "Together As One" was sung with Bermudian native David Roache, who won the Island wide competition for a local male to sing the harmony on this song. The performance was filmed and used for the "Together As One" video clip. [ Oui FM, likely in 2005 ] On famous French radio station Oui FM, Heather Nova sung "Motherland" and "Wicked Game" as acoustic session. The song "Wicked Game" was used for the "Oui FM Rock Acoustic" CD compilation. Some of these promo CDs were followed by a very similar or even equal regular release and contain nothing new. Also there are many promo CDs, which are slightly different, but the B-sides are really well-known from other CDs or the CD doesn't have any B-sides. It is not necessary to pay attention to these promo CDs in this song list. For the most detailed information about promo CDs on the Web, check out the Heather Nova Discography. For information about bootlegs and her compilations, see the CD index. For information about the Unmastered Siren and the Test Pressing Siren, see Siren. Eleven songs are ONLY PROMOTIONAL releases: + Gloomy Sunday (radio edit # 2) (See Gloomy Sunday, Promo, Germany) + Glow Stars (Edit) (See Glow Stars, Promo, France) + Heaven Sent (brosio mix) (See Heaven Sent, Promo, France) + I'm No Angel (onlyparadise mix) (See I'm No Angel, Promo, France # 1) + I'm No Angel (new radio mix, all vocals up) (See I'm No Angel, Promo, France # 2) + Like Lovers Do (edit) (See Like Lovers Do, Promo, USA) + Maybe An Angel (Edit # 3) (See Heather Nova AAA Sampler and Maybe An Angel, Promo, USA) + Maybe An Angel (live, likely in Japan, November 1995) (See Maybe An Angel, "DJ-Promo", Japan) + Renegade (A&T Short Mix) (See Renegade, Promo, Denmark and Renegade, Promo, Sweden) + Renegade (A&T Short Radio Cut) (See Renegade, Promo) + Virus Of The Mind (edit) (See Virus Of The Mind, Promo, Germany) + Walk This World (live, likely in Japan, November 1995) (See Maybe An Angel, "DJ-Promo", Japan) These promo CDs are worth to look at them closely: + 1993 Glow Stars (Promo, France, # 1685) 2:56 Glow Stars (Edit) This edit is not the same version as on the "Glow Stars" album, since some seconds in the middle (luckily without Heather singing) were cutted out. Between the lines "...night with you" and "I touch your face" are only four seconds left. + 1995 Walk This World (Promo, USA, OSK 7222) 3:48 Walk This World 4:13 Walk This World (live, likely in Amsterdam, December 15, 1994) The first song is the normal (censored) studio version [4]. The second song is a live version of "Walk This World" with no indication of origin, as it appears also on the Japanese Walk This World single, so it is likely from the Milkyway gig. The time is noted too short as 3:56. + 1995 Heather Nova AAA Sampler (Promo, USA, OSK 7621) 4:08 Maybe An Angel (Edit # 3) 4:54 Truth And Bone 4:02 Verona 6:20 Island Maybe An Angel is the only "important" song of this CD, because this "edit" is the never officially released Edit # 3 [4]. (See also Maybe An Angel US-promo). The running time is incorrect for "Maybe An Angel", the cover says 3:42, but it is in fact 4:08. The three remaining songs (Truth And Bone, Verona, Island) are identical to the release on Oyster. + 1995 Maybe An Angel ("DJ-Promo", Japan, XACS 90034) 5:08 Maybe An Angel 3:37 Walk This World (live, likely in Japan, November 1995) 4:18 Maybe An Angel (live, likely in Japan, November 1995) This promo CD contains two very interesting live versions of Walk This World and Maybe An Angel, which cannot be found on any other CD. They are performed in an acoustic style and were recorded likely at the Japanese tour in November 1995. The first song is Maybe An Angel as it appears on Oyster. + 1996 Maybe An Angel (Promo, USA, OSK 7620) 3:50 Maybe An Angel (Edit # 2) 4:08 Maybe An Angel (Edit # 3) 5:34 Maybe An Angel (live in Amsterdam, December 15, 1994) Three different versions of the same song on this CD! [4] The "single version" is Edit # 2, the "album edit" is the only promotional Edit # 3 (see also AAA Sampler), and the third track is from the Milkyway gig! + 1999 Gloomy Sunday (Promo, Germany, RTD 199.3640.3) 4:32 Gloomy Sunday (movie version) 3:40 Gloomy Sunday (radio edit # 1) 3:40 Gloomy Sunday (radio edit # 2) The first two versions of this song are the same as on the Gloomy Sunday single, but the radio edit # 1 is named on this promo CD "radio edit (violin intro)". The radio edit # 2 cannot be found on an "official" CD, nevertheless it is almost the same as radio edit # 1, because the only difference is that the violin at the beginning is missing (although the violin in other parts of this song is still there). This radio edit # 2 is named "radio edit" on this promo CD, but do not mix it with the so-called "radio edit" of the single, which contains radio edit # 1 (with the violin intro). + 2001 I'm No Angel (Promo, France # 1, VVR5017738P) 3:50 I'm No Angel (single mix) 3:58 I'm No Angel (album version) 5:29 I'm No Angel (onlyparadise mix) The first two versions are well-known, see [4]. The "onlyparadise mix" is only on this promo. + 2001? I'm No Angel (Promo, France # 2) 3:57 I'm No Angel (album version) 3:54 I'm No Angel (new radio mix, all vocals up) The first song is the well-known album version, see [4]. The "new radio mix, all vocals up" is only on this promo. + 2001 Virus Of The Mind (Promo, Germany, RTD 199.3265.3) 3:51 Virus Of The Mind (edit) Short version of the regular release. + 2001 Heaven Sent (Promo, France, V2 VVR5019193P) 4:09 Heaven sent (brosio mix) Only minor changes of the regular release. The length is misprinted as 3:44 on the backcover. + 2002 Like Lovers Do (Promo, USA, V2DJ-27727-2) 3:40 Like Lovers Do (edit) 4:08 Like Lovers Do (album version) The edit version is just a shortened version of the album version. + 2007 Renegade (Promo, Denmark) 4:25 Renegade (A&T Short Mix) 6:26 Renegade (Ronski Speed Mix) 10:15 Renegade (A&T Mix) 3:56 Renegade (Airplay Mix) 5:35 Renegade (album version) Five times the same song! The "A&T Short Mix", a shortened version of the "A&T Mix", can only be found here and on the Swedish promo. + 2007 Renegade (Promo, Sweden) 4:25 Renegade (A&T Short Mix) 3:56 Renegade (Original Radio Edit) The "Original Radio Edit" is the same as the "Airplay Mix" on other CD's. The "A&T Short Mix" can also be found on the Danish promo. + 2007 Renegade (Promo) 3:25 Renegade (A&T Short Radio Cut) Most likely promotional CD release. The "A&T Short Radio Cut" is an even more shortened "A&T Short Mix". The "CD info" is wrongly given as the song "Be Mine" by Swedish artist Robyn. [ 2 ] BOOTLEGS - RARE RECORDINGS, BUT ALSO FAKES As we Nova-fellows know, Heather makes an extremly unique music and has a style very of her own. We enjoy her regular releases and are "blessed" with Heather's numerous official live recordings, as Heather says, "that we are real, that we are a band, that I can really sing, that it is not just something that was put in a sampler". This section should not be understood as promoting bootlegs, but they exist. We should concentrate in this song list on the rare recordings from acoustic radio or TV sessions and also on the famous acoustic Hamburg gig from March 2, 1996. The bootlegs with these recordings have good sound quality and every Heather fan has hopefully once the possibility to give these recordings a listen: Tracklist Bootleg Supernova [# 1] (Germany, 1996): 4:23 Heal / 4:41 Throwing Fire At the Sun / 6:24 Island / 3:58 Like A Hurricane / 3:55 Walk This World / 4:27 Heart And Shoulder / 4:15 My Fidelity / 3:39 Doubled Up / 4:42 Maybe An Angel (+ "All Of Me" [7]) / 4:21 Ear To The Ground / 2:54 Truth And Bone (live in Hamburg, March 2, 1996) / 4:48 Island (live from MTV Europe's "Hanging Out", April 10, 1996) / 4:34 Light Years / 3:52 Walk this World / 5:38 Island / 4:49 Truth And Bone / 2:41 I'm On Fire (live on the Loreley, June 22, 1996) Tracklist Bootleg Supernova [# 2] (Japan, 1996?): 4:40 Maybe An Angel / 3:54 Heal (live, Radio 1 Session # 1, February 4, 1995) / 3:51 Walk This World / 3:54 Heal (live, Radio 1 Session # 2, 1995) / 5:08 Maybe An Angel / 3:56 My Fidelity (live, Radio 1 Session # 3, 1995) / 5:59 Sugar / 6:52 Throwing Fire At The Sun / 5:15 Talking To Strangers / 5:37 Maybe An Angel / 3:56 Verona (live in Amsterdam, December 15, 1994) / 4:36 Maybe An Angel ("Bonus Demo", live at GLR, 1995) Tracklist Bootleg Under A Blue Sky (Israel, 1998): 6:04 I'm The Girl / 4:06 Heart And Shoulder / 4:14 Walk This World / 4:35 Blood Of Me / 4:04 London Rain / 5:19 Island / 4:45 Winter Blue / 0:27 "introductions" [of the band] / 4:52 Maybe An Angel / 5:59 Sugar (live on the Loreley, June 21, 1998) / 4:46 Truth And Bone / 3:14 I'm On Fire (live in Hamburg, March 2, 1996) / 1:03 "interlude" [applause, prelude of concert] / 5:08 Maybe An Angel / 4:33 Walk This World / 4:58 Blood Of Me / 5:02 Not Only Human (live in Düsseldorf, December 19, 1998). This is the order of songs as it is pressed on the CD. The tracklist on the backcover has the two Hamburg songs falsely at the end instead of in the middle. On the other hand, it is necessary to warn every true Heather fan of two bootlegs that are called "Live in the USA" and "Heather", containing the same nine tracks, but in different order, because they are shameless fakes ! First of all, none of these songs are recorded "live in the USA 1994-1995", as the backcover says, because these CDs were released before Heather's first US tour ever! Seven songs are in fact from the 1993's Blow album, which was recorded in London: "Frontier", "Maybe An Angel", "Light Years", "Sugar", "Doubled Up", "Talking To Strangers" and "Blessed". The version of "Walk This World" is not a live recording! It's the acoustic mix [4] from the European and Australian Walk This World single! The version of "Truth And Bone" is the studio version taken from "Oyster"! Second, some annoying guitar had been overdubbed, especially on songs like "Maybe An Angel", "Truth And Bone", and the two guitar chords at the beginning of "Walk This World" do not seem to be played by Heather or by a member of her band. Third, audience noise had been added to create a bogus live version of the two studio songs, with the same audience applause at the beginning and at the end of each song! Fourth, the beginning of "Maybe An Angel" is missing! Fifth, to make this list complete, the song "Truth And Bone" on "Live In The USA" is even misspelt as "Thruth And Bone"! [5] So finally the bootlegs "Live In The USA" and "Heather" are totally rip offs! Heather surely doesn't like it, when her songs get modified without her agreement. And every fan who buys these CDs should know, that there is nothing on it, which had not been released officially before. Buy her official releases instead, with the guaranteed real and genuine Heather spirit, and support therefore the person this song list is dedicated to: Heather Nova. It is performed by "Heather Nova and Graeme Revell" and had been released on the European version of the soundtrack for part 2 of the movie The Crow - City of Angels. In the USA it can be found on the musical score CD of part 2 and not on the soundtrack for reasons whatsoever. There is a song called "Believe In Angels" on the score CD of the first part of The Crow. It is 3:31 minutes long, composed only by Graeme Revell, and a totally different song in a slow classical-pop style with no lyrics. The songwriting for Blind is credited to "Heather Nova and M Glover". The full name of "M Glover" is Martin Glover also known as Youth. Youth is bass player of the band Killing Joke. He produced songs on Oyster and on Siren. Additionaly, he played some bass and lead guitar on these albums. Gloomy Sunday was composed in pre-war Hungary in the Thirties. The music is by the piano player Rezsò Seress, while the words are by Laszlò Jàvor, the English lyrics are by Sam M. Lewis, and not by Bill Holman, as credited. This song became known as the "hymn of suicides" and had been covered throughout the years by many artists. The original Hungarian title is "szomorú vasárnap". The co-author of I'm No Angel is Bernard Butler, former Suede guitarist and solo artist. Heather had to change the lyrics of I'm On Fire more than carefully into her female view. So the original lyrics "Hey little girl is your daddy home, did he go away and leave you all alone? ... Tell me now baby is he good to you, can do to you the things that I do" were replaced by "Hey little boy is your mother home, did she go and leave you all alone ... Tell me now baby is she good to you, does she do to you the things I don't do". Heather Nova performed "I'm On Fire" together with Sarah McLachlan at the Lilith Fair Festival in July 1998. The same for Many Rivers To Cross: "My woman left and she didn't say why..." was changed into "My man he left me and he wouldn't say why..." The song Sail On is a poem by Heather's father A. John Frith, while Heather composed the music. Heather's Ship Song was written and released by Nick Cave under the name The Ship Song. Heather is credited for the song Something Beautiful. It is unclear if she wrote lyrics or music, or just sing background vocals. The label uses her real name "Heather Frith". Straight To Hell is declared as a collaboration "Moby featuring Heather Nova", "recorded and produced by Moby", but performed only by Heather. Cover of well-known The Beatles song We Can Work It Out written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. In the original version sung by Paul McCartney. First album release summer 1966 in the USA on "Yesterday ... And Today" and winter 1966 in the UK on "A Collection of Beatles Oldies". Release on "The Beatles 1962-1966 / Red Album" (1973) and lately on the "1" album (2000). Single release December 1965. Recorded October 1965. Dido Armstrong, co-writer for Welcome, is well-known as "Dido" and from "Faithless". [ 4 ] SONGS - DIFFERENT STUDIO VERSIONS OF SOME SONGS Some songs have more than one studio version, or sometimes it just seems to be. This list explains the differences: + Aquamarine DJ Chris Coco made a "Chris Coco's Balearica Mix" of Heather's song "Aquamarine" on Base Ibiza Records. It was played before the 2004 summer gigs by Heather. There is also a one track promo single out. + Believe In Angels We have two different versions: On the original score version (5:46), guitars are for example generally enhanced throughout the song, while on the soundtrack version (5:28) guitars are more 'contained' and the first 17 seconds of the orchestra/strings intro are missing. Both versions vary very much. + Doubled Up Although the length of "Doubled Up" is either 4:13 or 3:39 on the various versions of Oyster, it is the same track! The reason is that the long version just contains also the yes/no track. See Oyster for details. + Gloomy Sunday The German Gloomy Sunday single has both the movie version (4:31) and also the shortened radio edit # 1 (3:40), which was chosen for the videoclip [9]. The radio edit # 2 (3:40) is only on the promotional German Gloomy Sunday Promo, please see the notes about this edit in [1]. The album version (4:09) is the same as the movie version on the Gloomy Sunday single, but faded out earlier, and in a slightly different manner. + Glow Stars The shortened edit (2:56) of the album version (3:07) is only on the French Glow Stars Promo, please see the notes about this edit in [1]. + Heart And Shoulder The album version (4:00) is on Siren and on every Heart And Shoulder single. It was used for the videoclip [9]. The acoustic version (3:51), which was recorded independently only with Heather's voice, guitar, and Nadia's cello is on most of these singles. + Heaven Sent The album version (4:14) is on Siren and the "brosio mix" (3:44) is only promotional [1]. + I'm No Angel The single mix (3:50) on the I'm No Angel single is slightly shorter and has less sound effects than the South album version (3:58). The onlyparadise mix (5:29) is a house club mix by French project "Only Paradise" and appears only on the French I'm No Angel Promo # 1. The new album mix, new vocals up (3:54) appears only on the French I'm No Angel Promo # 2. + I'm The Girl The radio edit (3:45) is just a shortened version of the Siren album track (5:23). The so called "K-Klass Extended Remix" (4:48) is no new recording, too, because it is based on the same Siren track, but it was remixed by "K-Klass" and there is an additional keyboard on it. Both songs are only on the Dutch I'm The Girl single. + Let's Not Talk About Love In contrast to the Storm release in other countries, the French Storm contains a special version of the song "Let's Not Talk About Love". Some lyrics are translated into French (and so does Heather sing), and the song is a duet with Heather and French singer Benjamin Biolay. The length of the two versions is the same (3:19). + Like Lovers Do The album version (4:14) is on South and the German Virus Of The Mind single. The "edit" (3:40) is only promotional [1], has a shortened intro and a shortened bridge. + London Rain The album version (3:52) is on Siren and on every London Rain single. It was used for the videoclips [9]. The acoustic version (3:57), which was recorded independently only with Heather's voice, guitar, and Nadia's cello is on most of these singles. + Maybe An Angel There would be a lot of studio versions of Maybe An Angel if we trust the running times as printed on the CD covers. But the running times are often printed incorrectly (Maybe An Angel US-promo just as Walk This World US-promo) and so we have the following studio versions: - album version: 5:08 Oyster - single edit #1: 4:02 MaA-Australia, MaA-Germany, MaA-UK single - single edit #2: 3:52 MaA-Japan, MaA-US-promo - single edit #3: 4:08 AAA sampler, MaA-US-promo The running times may vary about some seconds on different CDs. The cover of the AAA Sampler even says 3:42 for the edit # 3, but in fact it is 4:08. The edits # 2 and # 3 have the full intro lyrics with "And when you said that you were dead I hung on". But the volume of the guitar had been decreased during the first verse ("I can't see very far" through "I hung on"). The edits # 1 and # 3 have the guitar solo between "maybe you could have been" and "see how the run". Edit # 3 has never been released officially. The music from the two videoclips [9] were taken from edit # 1 (European version) and edit # 2 (US version). Other studio releases of this song: - Undertow Mix: 4:05 MaA-Australia, MaA-UK single - Acoustic at GLR: 4:33 Volume 13, Supernova #2 The Undertow mix of Maybe An Angel is more than a mix! It is a completely new studio work, much faster and up-beated than the Oyster version! Even Heather's vocal part was recorded again. The GLR version is an acoustic performance without audience noise. + Not Only Human The length of this song normally is 5:04, but if the Siren copy has bonus tracks there is an approximately 3 minute silence after this song, so it total length is given as 8:07 or even 8:09, although it is the same track. + One Day In June The River Of Life single "home demo" version (4:21) is recorded just with Heather and her acoustic guitar, different to the Storm album version (4:32) recorded with her studio band. + Renegade There are six versions of Renegade. On the album "Trilogy" [11], there is the "album version" (5:36). On the single "Renegade", there is the shortened "airplay mix" (3:56), which was also used for the video clip [9], the very long "A&T Mix" (10:15) by André Tanneberger, and the "Ronski Speed Remix", remixed by Ronski Speed and Rough Mullar. The "airplay mix" is not on the vinyl version of the single. The "A&T Mix" and the "Ronski Speed Remix" are dance versions of this song. On the Danish Promo of Renegade, all these versions can be found, plus an additional "A&T Short Mix" (4:25), which is a shortened version of the "A&T Mix". On the Promo of Renegade, there is an "A&T Short Radio Cut" (3:25), which is an even more shortened "A&T Short Mix". In fact, compared to the "A&T Short Mix", the "A&T Short Radio Cut" was cut at 2:24 - 3:07, 4:03 - 4:18, and 4:22 - 4:25 minutes, making the difference exactly one minute. + River Of Life There is a 3:21 version on the Storm album and on the River Of Life single. The "clean version" is also 3:21 long and is on the Oorgasm 14 sampler. It seems that there are no differences to the standard version. + Someone New Eskobar recorded two versions of this song: one with Heather, and the other with "Natural High", a Japanese band, which is on the Japanese albums and singles. + Tested The South album version (3:26) contains an acoustic version whereas the I'm No Angel single contains a full band version (3:56) + Truth And Bone The single version of Truth And Bone is different to the one released on Oyster (4:52). This alternative version (4:03) had been recorded in Nashville sometime in 1995/96 with a completely different band. There is even no cello on this song! The video [9] for "Truth And Bone" is based on this alternative version. + Verona Although the length of "Verona" is either 4:33 or 4:01 on the various versions of Oyster, it is the same track! The reason is that the long version just contains also the yes/no track. See Oyster for details. + Virus Of The Mind The edit (3:51) on the German Virus Of The Mind Promo is just a shortened version with earlier fade out of the regular release on South (4:13). + Walk This World Strictly speaking we have three different versions of the song "Walk This World". The lyrics of Walk This World (3:50) originally contain the "fuck" word. But on the Walk This World US-promo, the European and Australian single release of Walk This World and on the version on the Australian Maybe An Angel, Heather sings "sucked in". It seems that these two words were taken from an earlier point of this verse. The US and the European/Australian versions of Oyster are both uncensored, as well as the videoclip [9] for the song, and the version on the Japanese 3-track Walk This World. Sometimes also the printed lyrics are censored. The third version is the so called "acoustic mix" (3:54). It is uncensored. + Welcome The album version (4:18 or 4:21) is on Redbird, some versions of South and on the Welcome single. The radio version (3:33) is only on the Welcome single, with minor changes, like extra guitar and vocals, but with a shorter end and a missing quieter section. + For information about the different song versions on the Unmastered Siren and the Test Pressing Siren, see Siren. [ 5 ] SONGS - DIFFERENT NAMES OF SOME SONGS The song "London Rain" was released in France both on Siren and the Best Issue 1 sampler as Keep Me (London Rain) while as London Rain (Nothing Heals Me Like You Do) elsewhere. There is also a "Keep Me (London Rain)" promotional CD in France. The song "Heal" is called Habit on a Oyster test pressing by Whitfield Recording Studios, dated June 27th, 1994. The first promo CDs for Siren were released in a cardboard cover where the song "What A Feeling" was firstly announced as Fruit. "Fruit" is also the "legal title" for this song. Later, the name changed into What A Feeling (Fruit) on the Test Pressing Siren, the US advanced promo CDs and German promo CDs of Siren, but on the official release it is called "What A Feeling". The old title refers to the lyrics "Now's the time when this will turn to fruit..." "What A Feeling" named as "Fruit" can also be found on the Unmastered Siren CD. For information about the Unmastered Siren, see Siren. The song "Tested" was first called Blessed By You and played this way on the Wonderlust tour 2000. The song "Together As One" was originally named Bermuda Sloop Song. The song "I Miss My Sky (Amelia Earhart's Last Days)" is commonly shortened as I Miss My Sky. There are also some typos on Heather's records: on a "Oyster and Live From The Milky Way" double CD the song "Talking To Strangers" on Milky Way is misspelt "Walking To Strangers". The song "Heart And Shoulder" is misspelt on the "Test Pressing Siren" as "Heart & Soulder". The song "Fool For You" is misspelt on the "Live From The Union Chapel DVD" in Germany as "Food For You". Also, "Wicked Game" is misspelt as "Wicked Games" on the "Oui FM Rock Acoustic" sampler. [ 6 ] SONGS - NEW SONGS PERFORMED LIVE Some Oyster song have been in Heather's live repertory before the Oyster studio versions were being recorded, for example on Blow the songs Light Years, Sugar, Maybe An Angel, and Doubled Up, or one or another song in radio interviews, like Walking Higher, months before the recording sessions took place. For more detailed info about this concert, please go to the Hamburg annotations. On the Wonderlust tour 2000 Heather played four songs which were not released at that time: Only Love (released on South as It's Only Love), No Angel (released on South as I'm No Angel), Blessed By You (released on South as Tested), and a song called Drive Away (not released yet). Heather performed two new songs at the Crossing Border Festival on November 8, 2002 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, during her "the sorrowjoy" reading. Drink It In is now released on Storm, but the other untitled song from Crossing Border ("I walked along the shore today, stood lookin' out across the bay...") has not been released yet. She also performed in the past Stayin' Alive from The Bee Gees (several times on tour in 2001/2002), One Love by Bob Marley (New Year's Eve 2000 in Bermuda, December 31, 1999), The Phantom Of The Opera (taken from musical "The Phantom Of The Opera", music: Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics: Charles Hart, Richard Stilgoe; sung as a duet with Midge Ure, at a charity gala in Cardiff, October 20, 2001), Losing My Mind (taken from musical "Follies", music and lyrics: Stephen Sondheim, sung at the same charity gala in Cardiff), and Hine E Hine (a Maori song, meaning "little one", by Hayley Westenra, a singer from New Zealand; performed with Hayley Westenra and Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis at an UNICEF gala, November 23, 2004 in London). None of these performences by Heather are released on CD. Heather's song Together As One (formerly knows as "Bermuda Sloop Song") was first performed on May 14, 2005 on Bermuda, as a duet with native Bermudian David Roache. This performance was filmed and taken for the Together As One videoclip. She also sung Bob Marley's Redemption Song at this event. At the "Save The Gardens" party in the Botanical Gardens in Bermuda on November 19, 2006, Heather played a five-song set, including "Motherland". And the end of the party, Heather returned together with violin player Taylor Rankin, Joy Barnum and Thaao Dill, Olybhosh, Val Wallace and Ras Giorgis on stage, and all the performers sung Bob Marley's Three Little Birds. [ 7 ] SONGS - ADDITIONAL LYRICS LIVE Heather's live songs are alive. On tour, such songs got for example some additional lyrics. Listen to Siren and Wonderlust and you will hear the difference on "Winter Blue" and "I'm The Girl". At the end of Winter Blue on Wonderlust, Heather changes mood and style and she slides into the beginning of Joni Mitchell's "Blue" with the lyrics: "Blue, songs are like tattoos, you know I've been to sea before". The song "Blue" was first released on the 1971 album "Blue". Heather often heard it in her childhood and she said about the album: "When I was about nine, I was obsessed with this and knew all the lyrics. I don't know what I was relating to because, aged nine, I don't think you can really understand all the sexuality that's going on. I think it was part fantasy that I liked in this. I always put it on when I'm kinda stressed. Music can bring you back and anything that can bring me back to childhood is calming." (taken from an interview with Heather in the booklet of the Volume # 14 CD). Another hero for Heather is Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. This woman had a desperate life, but she had enough power to manage it, so Heather feels deeply connected with Frida and other women, what I'm The Girl is about. The additional lyrics on Wonderlust are: "Every ruby lips, every silver line, got Frida Kahlo blood sometimes, through my arteries, like veins, I feel free. Every, every exhalation in mine, indecision in mine, solarplexus in mine, every pleasure in me, every fire at all, every moon, every day!" On other concerts maybe you heard something like that: "I feel her heartbeat in mine... every memory, every fire, everything". Besides, the photograph on the back of the European Oyster was done after Frida Kahlo's painting 'Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird' (1940). After the end of Maybe An Angel on the Supernova # 1 bootleg of the acoustic Hamburg gig in 1996, Heather asked the people "What do you want?", and the wishes ranged from "Sugar" to ... "All Of Me" (instead of "All The Way") ! Heather knew there's an old jazz and swing tune called All Of Me written by Seymour Simons (lyrics) and Gerald Marks (music) and performed by many artists like Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra or even Louis Armstrong. Heather sang the first lines "All of me, why not take all of me...". Heather uses some additional lines also in Blue Black. She sings for example on the 1995 Japanese tour and after that always "I can't stand it any more more". This is a line from Lou Reed's "I Can't Stand It" from 1972, later with his band "The Velvet Underground". During the summer tour 2002, Heather added to the song Sugar a line partly in German: "we wanna see your hands - Ich will eure Hände sehen!", which is an excerpt of the song Ich Will by German band Rammstein. Also, she included poems from her book "The Sorrowjoy" into the song Verona and excerpts from "this is the colour" into Winterblue during the tours in 2001 and 2002. At least one poem ("the city slept and the lilies bloomed") that hasn't find its way into "Sorrowjoy" has also be recited, in Berlin (August 23, 2001). On Blow, Heather sang slightly different lyrics in Maybe An Angel, and also an extra verse in Shaking The Doll. [ 8 ] SONGS - FOREIGN LANGUAGES Heather sings in foreign languages: + French Heather sings some lines in French together with Benjamin Biolay on the song "Let's Not Talk About Love" in the duet version on the French Storm. + German During the summer tour 2002, Heather added to the song "Sugar" a line partly in German: "we wanna see your hands - Wir wollen eure Hände sehen!", which is an excerpt of the song "Ich Will" from album "Mutter" by German band "Rammstein". In the song "Mooie Dag / Beautiful Day" by Heather and Bløf she didn't sing Dutch. Heather has co-written and sung three songs on it: Renegade, Stars Come Out and Made Of Glass. Renegade was also chosen as the first single, and a video clip for it was shot. [ 12 ] GUEST APPEARANCES BY HEATHER - AFRO CELT SOUND SYSTEM: "VOLUME 3 - FURTHER IN TIME" In June 2001, the Afro Celt Sound System (or simply "The Afro Celts"), a World Music act combining Gaelic and African traditional elements into some kind of "boundary-breaking music", released their third longplayer Volume 3 - Further In Time with the help of famous guest voices Peter Gabriel and Robert Plant. Heather's contribution to this 12-track album was writing a song called Go On Through, performed by Pina Kollars and Iarla Ó'Lionáird. "Heather Nova came up with the lyric and melody. She's not singing it, but we're going to do a version of it with her vocal. The song has a simplicity to it.", says Afro Celts's band leader Simon Emmerson in an interview with "Innerviews". Heather met the Afro Celts first on Peter Gabriel's Womad (World Music and dance) festival in Benoni, South Africa in March and April 2000. The Afro Celt Sound System is signed at Peter Gabriel's music label "Real World", and Heather recorded "Siren" at Peter Gabriel's Real World recording studio in Bath, England. We also know Heather's cover of Peter Gabriel's "I Have The Touch" on the Craft soundtrack... Rosie Wetters, the cellist during the Wonderlust tour 2000, plays "solo cello" on "Volume 3" (although not on Heather's song), and Hossam Ramzy, Egyptian percussionist on Heather's "Truth And Bone", plays percussion. [ 13 ] GUEST APPEARANCES BY HEATHER - ESKOBAR: "THERE'S ONLY NOW" In October 2001 Eskobar released their new and second album "There's Only Now". Heather did a duet on the song Someone New. Eskobar is a Swedish group and Heather Nova's label-mate at V2, consisting of singer Daniel Bellqvist, guitarist Frederik Zäll and drummer Robert Birming. In a MTV Nordic interview, Heather answers the question: "You recently collaborated with Eskobar on their new album. How did you experience that?" with "They contacted me and asked me if I would like to do a song with them. I thought Daniel was a really good songwriter and I loved their last album so I said sure and I came over to Stockholm and we met up and he had already and idea for a song and we just kind of sat down and figured out the rest of it together." A video starring Heather and Daniel got a lot of airplay. Someone New was also released as a single. Heather Nova performed the song "Someone New" together with Eskobar at the Rockpalast concert in Düsseldorf concert on March 31, 2002 and at the Montsoleil concert on August 27, 2005. The second one was Bløf's "Mooie Dag" (from their album "Blauwe Ruis", written by Bløf's singer and bassist Peter Slager), sung as a duet with Bløf and Heather. Bløf sang their original Dutch lyrics, and Heather the English translation Beautiful Day. Peter Slager of Bløf explained in the show that he had written a rough translation in English and had sent it to Heather with e-mail. Heather than changed the lyrics a bit to make it better English and that she could sing it properly. In the beginning of the program Heather is shown with a piece of paper with the lyrics. Also there is some conversation about getting it right. Additionally, Heather sang "Virus Of The Mind" and "Heart And Shoulder". "Mooie Dag" was released on the Bløf's single "Mooie Dag # 3".
